The MK8 Golf R and GTI respond well to a better intake path, but not everyone wants to replace the factory airbox. JDY gives you both options: Stage 1 upgrades the connection from the OEM airbox to the turbo, while Stage 2 replaces the full intake tract with a JDY airbox, oversized filter, titanium pipe, and turbo inlet.
Both systems are designed for the EA888 EVO4 platform using OEM 3D scan data and factory mounting locations.
Why We Like It
JDY approached this as a complete airflow path, not just a shiny pipe under the hood. Stage 1 addresses the restrictive section ahead of the turbo while keeping the factory airbox and a tidy OEM-style appearance. Stage 2 carries the larger diameter all the way from the filter to the turbo, with a dedicated diverter-valve connection that accounts for the MK8’s tight engine bay.
The choice is straightforward: keep the factory airbox and upgrade the important bits, or go with the complete intake for more airflow capacity and a very different look under the hood.
Stage 1: Keep the OEM Airbox
Stage 1 retains the factory airbox and replaces the intake connection to the turbo with a 3.5” reinforced silicone hose and JDY’s 3.5” CNC-machined turbo inlet. The hose has a smooth interior and internal wire support to help it hold its shape under high airflow demand.
Stage 1 includes:

Stage 2: The Complete 4” Intake
Stage 2 replaces the factory airbox and intake tubing with JDY’s aluminum airbox, 5” high-flow filter, and 4” titanium intake pipe. A reinforced silicone reducer makes the transition to the 3.5” turbo inlet, while a dedicated hose and fitting integrate the diverter-valve recirculation connection.
The titanium pipe is available in Blue, Purple, Gold, or Silver. The powder-coated aluminum airbox uses stainless-steel fasteners and mounts in the factory airbox position.
