EQT IS38+ Turbo Upgrade
The EQT IS38+ is a direct-fit IS38 replacement and upgrade for MQB-platform GTI, GLI, A3, Golf R, S3, and 1.8T applications.
If you're upgrading from an IS20, the IS38+ gives you the proven factory-size IS38 compressor and turbine package with additional airflow and power potential when properly tuned. If you're replacing a failed factory IS38 on a Golf R or S3, it also works as a direct replacement without requiring tuning changes simply to run the turbo.
Where the EQT unit improves on the factory design is durability. EQT upgrades the bearing system with a 360° thrust bearing, providing additional support under higher boost and sustained load—exactly where factory IS38 units have historically been asked to do more than VW intended.
What's Included?
The EQT IS38+ arrives pre-assembled and is designed as a direct replacement for the factory IHI IS20 or IS38 turbocharger.
The kit includes the turbocharger and required installation hardware.
You can also option the turbo with a pre-installed and calibrated wastegate actuator, eliminating the need to transfer and recalibrate your existing actuator during installation.
Diverter valve is not included. Your existing factory or aftermarket diverter valve must be transferred from your current IS20 or IS38 turbocharger.
