Carbotech XP12 Race Brake Pads

The Carbotech XP12 is what happens when the XP10 isn't enough anymore.

Built for advanced HPDE drivers, instructors, time attack competitors, sprint racers, and anyone who regularly finds themselves arriving at braking zones with questionable levels of confidence, the XP12 delivers more bite, more torque, and more heat capacity than the already-impressive XP10.

This isn't a subtle step up. The XP12 hits harder, digs deeper into the braking zone, and continues performing long after lesser pads have checked out for the day.

With an operating temperature range from 250°F to over 1,850°F, the XP12 thrives in environments where repeated heavy braking is the norm. Long sessions. Fast cars. Sticky tires. Drivers who are more concerned with lap times than brake dust.

Despite its aggressive nature, the XP12 still retains the hallmark characteristics that have made Carbotech a favorite among serious enthusiasts and racers alike: exceptional modulation, predictable release, and a pedal feel that remains consistent session after session.

While the XP12 is somewhat more rotor aggressive than the XP10, it's still remarkably rotor-friendly compared to many competing race compounds in the same performance category.

Why We Like It

  • Massive temperature capacity exceeding 1,850°F

  • Excellent fade resistance under prolonged abuse

  • Predictable release characteristics

  • Compatible with modern ABS systems

  • More rotor-friendly than many competing race compounds

  • Made in the USA

Before You Buy

Let's save everyone some time.

The XP12 is not a street pad.

Not "occasionally street driven." Not "I only drive to Cars & Coffee." Not "my buddy says it's fine."

It's a dedicated race compound.

Expect noise. Expect dust. Expect your neighbors to wonder why your BMW sounds like a freight train pulling into the station every morning.

Like other Carbotech race compounds, the XP12 does not utilize the factory brake pad wear sensor. Pad wear should be monitored visually, and the factory sensor will need to be secured out of the way.

ORT's Take

The XP10 is the sweet spot for most track enthusiasts.

The XP12 is what we recommend when someone calls and says, "I'm still cooking my brakes."

If you're running advanced HPDE groups, instructing regularly, running sticky tires, adding aero, or simply carrying more speed than your current setup can comfortably support, the XP12 starts making a lot of sense.

The tradeoff is simple: more stopping power, more heat capacity, slightly more rotor wear.

For drivers chasing lap times instead of comfort, that's a trade we'd make every single time.
